Disable touchpad on DELL Laptop

Disable touchpad on DELL Laptop

Postby frogger on Thu Nov 02, 2006 10:49 am

I have a DELL Latitude D610 laptop and I keep hitting the touchpad when I type and it makes the cursor jump around on the page and generally screws up what I am doing.  I have a USB mouse plugged in.  I cant figure out how to shut off / disable the touchpad.  Does anyone know how to do this?

I hear ya
Touch Pads should be outlawed.....  I'm always getting my opposing thumb in the way ...
Re-boot and press F12 to get into your setup screen.  Then go to BIOS Setup and select Post Behavior from the list.  Take the mouse/touchpad option and choose serial mouse if you want to disable the touch pad all the time or ps/2 mouse option if you have a ps/2 mouse and the touchpad will be disabled only when your ps/2 mouse in not plugged in....  I have a serial mouse so I had to choose the serial mouse option....
